I’ve been excited for iOS 26 feature like Liquid Glass and UI of native apps (still getting used to Safari). But it didn’t take long for me to find the worst feature of iOS 26.
I can’t change the background color of Contacts on iPhone.
And why would I want to do that? Because I just want to see my notes and I have lots that is hard to see.
I have a good eye vision. Yet I’m having a hard time reading white fonts against whatever background the contact has. Orange, purple, whatever is the background, I need to squint and curse. This is an accessibility issue and it has to be fixed.

A few days ago, there’s another update: iOS 26.01 (23A355). I thought this would solve the issue. But to my dismay. Nothing happened.
I did my own research to this annoying feature and found out that people are having the same issue:
- How can I set one background color for all contacts in iOS 26?
- Need help! I lost all notes in contact list
I keep checking the discussion if there’s already a solution and so far, there’s NONE.
Fortunately, I didn’t lose my notes on the Contacts and Notes app on which I have less than 200 notes. So you can see, I like writing notes on my phone and recently on Supernote A5 X2 Manta (ereader).
I guess, I wouldn’t be reading notes on Contacts if I can help it. For now, I’ll organize my other notes and hope this background color issue would be fixed . . . soon.
Have you found a work around this font issue on Contacts? If so, please let me know in the comments. Thanks in advance.
