Backing Up My First Kickstarter and Indiegogo Campaigns

Updated on November 23, 2020 By Carolyn Leave a Comment

If I want to buy a gadget, I will typically buy and research online then probably pick it up in the store just like when I bought an iPad Pro in an Apple Store.

But when I looked for a replacement to my Tzumi Keyboard I decided to try my luck in a crowdfunding campaign.

Although I was a bit hesitant, I backed two campaigns.

Investing in crowdfunding in the past, help curbed out any doubt. As a precaution, I will only spend the amount of money that I am willing to lose. But hopefully not.

Keychron K3 Bluetooth Mechanical Keyboard

I may have learned about Keychron keyboards through Dave2D. This channel is one of my favourite tech channels.

Watching an in depth reviews of Keychron K2 by Betty of Switch and Click I realized I need a slimmer keyboard that is portable and wouldn’t take up much space on my laptop desk.

As I get deeper into Keychron’s website I discovered the Keychron K3 campaign on Kickstarter.

In September, I bought K3 White Backlight Keyboard (optical with brown switch).

It’s already November and hoping to get it by December this year. Or early January.

I didn’t expect that I have to wait so long to get my hands on a K3 keyboard.

Well I couldn’t wait that long and need a Bluetooth keyboard that I can use with my iPad Pro so I bought Jelly Comb Bluetooth Keyboard which I am now using in writing this post and more future posts as I patiently wait for my K3 keyboard.

I’ll use K3 mostly at home but it depends on how much noise it can make. I like the sound of clicking keys without any staring annoyed eyes on me.

PaMu Quiet Earbuds

My wired earphone (for iPhone 6) has only the left earpiece working. Instead of looking for another earphone from JVC or Sony, I decided to give wireless earphone a go.

Although, I love apple products I wouldn’t spend $300 ish for airpods because I am saving for a Mac. Can’t wait to try a Mac with Apple Silicon.

I watched a review of Pamu Slide Mini on Pinoy Tech Dad channel.

Later I found out that there’s a newer version which is PaMu Quiet on Indiegogo.

Another online crowdfunding project. Do I still have patience to wait?

Well, it took a month before PaMu Quiet was delivered at my place. Delivery was faster (compare to Keychron) and free.

Let’s see how long will it take me to get used to a wireless earphone.

Will I Continue to Fund Campaigns

Definitely! I found few projects like Lumos Ultra (bike helmet) that I might buy in the future.

Crowdfunding provides opportunity for ideas to materialize with help from the public.

We get to use what we like and spend as little and as much as we want. I prefer to get the basic package. For K3 I added a palm rest and skip the pouch.

While it’s discouraging to support a campaign when there were many Kickstarter failures, I still believe that crowdfunding has done more good.

Then again, backers choose wisely.

What campaigns have you backed up and successfully received a product?
