The first issue that I encountered as a first-time Mac user is not being able to connect to the Internet.
For days, I cannot connect online on my Mac. I tried resetting the router which isn’t causing the problem because I can connect online using my iPhone and iPad.
Frustrated. I decided to delete everything I downloaded including CleanMyMac X (free version) and Kaspersky Internet Security (Canada).
It worked. I am back online. I never had any online-related issue since then.
But another issue keeps on popping up every time I turn on my Mac.

I ignored the message “kai_agent quit unexpectedly.”
Until one day, I decided to deal with it once and for all.
Cleaning with nektony
I downloaded nektony, an app cleaner and uninstaller. It turned out that some files related to Kaspersky Internet Security weren’t deleted. Lesson learned. Next time I will use an uninstaller to delete an app.
With a free trial (two days), I immediately use nektony.
1. Go to Applications > Kaspersky Internet Security > Uninstall.

2. Click Remove.

And done! 1.89 GB of files were deleted on my Mac for free.

After using nektony, I never see the message “kai_agent quit unexpectedly.” ever again. What a relief!

Don’t forget to empty your Trash. Or is it called Recycle Bin?
Tip: Kaspersky Internet Security is now a subscription based anti-virus. The plans range from $27.99 to $32.99 per year.
Now What?
Using nektony is easy and fast. So I had time to keep wandering and wondering around whether I should have an uninstaller app again like nektony or CleanMyMac X again.
Should I pay for an uninstaller or could I find a free app?
For a one-time purchase of $34.95, I can buy nektony or spend $74.95 for MacCleaner Pro that comes with nektony and five more apps.
How many basic apps do I need to keep my Mac running smoothly?
I like to keep my devices free of trash so I might get CleanMyMac X again, but the free version.
Also I should probably should get an anti-virus for my Mac. I’m leaning towards Sophos which I installed on my cousin’s Mac which sold me on switching to Mac when my Toshiba laptop kicked the bucket.
What issues you had to deal with as a first-time Mac user? And are you using any anti-virus or uninstaller? Any recommendations.
