My MacBook Pro 14 is running low with storage (500 GB) so I am using SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD for MacBook Pro for additional storage. I am also going to use a Toshiba HDD which I salvage from my retired laptop as a backup for photos and videos.

To format an SSD, I opened Disk Utility and click Erase.

In a few minutes, the Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD was formatted.
In the future I am thinking of using an SSD (eg. Crucial and Samsung) for a PC with enclosure that comes with ports. For now I like the portability and durability of SanDisk Extreme.
