Why Overdrive is Missing in Kobo Libra 2

Updated on December 29, 2021 By Carolyn Leave a Comment

In October, I bought a MacBook Pro 14-inch, iPhone 13 Mini, and Kobo Libra 2. The third gadget is more of a want than a need like a laptop and a mobile phone.

I must have gone crazy in October for spending a lot in gadgets.

So for the past months I’ve been dabbling with MacOS beginner courses and reading on Kobo Libra 2, my second ereader. The first is also a bulky Kobo that I forgot what it’s called.

Everything is fine and dandy . . . until I change some things.

Kobo Libra 2 turned off

Why I Cannot Find Overdrive?

I’m enjoying curving time reading on Kobo until one day I noticed that the Overdrive in Settings is missing. What have I done?

Is there a software update? Is my Kobo Libra 2 broken?

Note: Kobo Libra current software version is 4.30.18838

The Solution: Turn of web access

Home > More > Settings > Accounts > Parental Controls > turn off Block store and web access

I didn’t notice this issue when I blocked off the web access and added a 4-digit PIN which I use in all of my gadgets. Never been a fan of touch ID.

Here’s a comparison of Turning On and Off Parental Controls:

  • Home
  • My Books

Discover is added. Here you can log in to your Overdrive account.

My Books (Free and Paid)

With the mystery already solved, I thought of sharing what books I have in my Kobo Libra 2.

  1. Letters from a Stoic (Collins Classics) by Lucius Seneca – $3.99 CAD (much of the content is about word definitions and footnotes)
  2. Stoic Six Pack (Ilustrated) – free
  3. 24 Stoic Spiritual Exercises by Massimo Pigliucci – free
  4. The Cato Chronicles: Essays on a Stoic Role Model – free
  5. Practical Stoicism: Your Action Guide On How To Implement Stoic Philosophy Into Your Life by David Dillinger – free
  6. How to be a Stoic: Little Known Tips on How to Cut Through Distractions and Desires to Become a Better Human Being by David Dillinger – free

As you can see I am occupied with Stoicism books which is what I need in this time of lockdowns and restrictions.

Lastly, I would recommend The Stoic Challenge by William B. Irvine ($25.19 CAD). I borrowed the book from the library and since then I’ve been looking for more books about this topic.
